Traceability = Cost and Risk Minimization

In the automotive industry, Tier-2 and Tier-3 suppliers obtain large parts of the value chain process. In the case of a failure, not only is the OEM affected, but so are the partners and they are taking more and more responsibility for product liability. If a product of these companies has a failure, a product worth several cents can cause liability costs of several million Euros. Because of this, it is very important for the whole industry to link together all of the logistic data along the supply chain so that the tier-3 parts are transparent. Only in this way is it possible to act fast and identify the exact number of affected products. In day-to-day business, big potentials are made accessible for process improvement and cost reduction through the increased transparency of information and material flows.
